Hong Kong Investment Residency Scheme


The New Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (New CIES) in Hong Kong is a program designed to attract wealthy individuals to invest in the city and obtain residency rights.

 It was launched on March 1, 2024, and aims to further enrich the talent pool and attract more new capital to Hong Kong.   


Key features of the New CIES:


  • Minimum investment: Eligible applicants must make an investment of at least HK$30 million in permissible investment assets.   

  • Permissible investment assets: These include Hong Kong stocks, bonds, funds, and other financial instruments.   

  • Residency: Successful applicants may bring their dependants to Hong Kong and may apply for permanent residency after seven years of continuous ordinary residence.   

  • Processing time: The application process typically takes around six months.


How to apply:


  1. Prepare your documents: You will need to provide proof of your financial assets, investment intentions, and personal information.   

  2. Submit your application: You can submit your application online through the New CIES website.   

  3. Assessment: Your application will be assessed by the New CIES Office and the Immigration Department.   

  4. Approval: If your application is approved, you will receive a visa or entry permit to Hong Kong.   


Additional information:


  • The New CIES is open to individuals from all countries except Afghanistan, Cuba, and North Korea.

  • Applicants must have a clean criminal record.
