Working Holiday Scheme
The Working Holiday Scheme (WHS) is a program offered by the Hong Kong Immigration Department that allows young adults from participating countries to live and work in Hong Kong for up to 12 months. The WHS is a great way to experience Hong Kong's vibrant culture, learn Cantonese, and gain valuable work experience.
Who can apply?
To be eligible for the WHS, you must:
Be a citizen of a country that has a bilateral agreement with Hong Kong (see list of participating countries below)
Be between the ages of 18 and 30 (inclusive) on the day you apply
Hold a valid passport that will remain valid for at least six months after your intended stay in Hong Kong
Not be traveling with any dependents
Have a return ticket or sufficient funds to purchase one
Have sufficient funds to cover your expenses in Hong Kong
Have health and personal liability insurance for the duration of your stay

How to apply
Applications for the WHS can be submitted online through the Hong Kong Immigration Department website https://www.immd.gov.hk/eng/services/visas/working_holiday_scheme.html. The processing time for applications is usually around four weeks.
Things to keep in mind
WHS visas are not renewable.
WHS holders cannot work for the same employer for more than three months.
WHS holders may study or take part in short-term training courses.
